Who is Soney?

A candle maker, fragrance designer, and the founder of  a candle brand in the heart of New Zealand. Through experimenting with wax, fragrance oils, and extensive burn testing, she developed a deep understanding of how fragrance behaves in natural wax candles.

During this process, Soney noticed a gap in candle education. While many courses teach how to pour candles, very few explain how to design the fragrance itself. Most candle makers are left guessing which scents to combine and why some candles smell beautiful in the jar but weak when burning.

Determined to solve this problem, Soney studied fragrance structure, scent families, and the way fragrance interacts with soy, coconut, and beeswax. From this work, she developed the S³ Fragrance Architecture™ Method, a framework that helps candle makers design stronger, more balanced fragrances using three key principles: Structure, Saturation, and Synergy.

In addition to running her candle business, Soney is also the creator of MyWickJournal, a tool designed to help candle makers track their testing process, refine formulas, and improve candle performance.

Through her work, Soney’s goal is to help candle makers move beyond trial and error and begin designing candle fragrances with intention, structure, and confidence.
